Noche de Ciencias/Science Night

Noche de Ciencias is part of a national initiative to promote knowledge and interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) among the Hispanic community. The goal of Noches de Ciencias is to inform K-12 students and their families about STEM education and college options through interactive workshops and activities. This May 22, 2017, the SHPE Fresno Professional Chapter will host a Noche de Ciencias at McLane High School. Volunteers are needed to make this event happen.

There are presentations in English and Spanish for the parents on college options, financial aid, and the many opportunities available within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields. For the kids, there are interactive activities like making a wind turbine generator and making a remote control receiver, a panel of speakers sharing their story of why they became an engineer, and other science and engineering related projects. Appetizers will be available and raffle prizes for the end of the evening.

Noche de Ciencias is a free event and our organization encourages any parents interested in finding out how to send their children to college to come and obtain some very valuable information.
