Granite Ridge wins Regional Science Bowl

Granite Ridge Intermediate from Clovis, CA placed first at the ninth annual regional science bowl, with Edison Computech coming in as a close second. The competition was held at Fresno State this past Saturday, February 27, 2016. This is Granite Ridge’s second consecutive win.

The winning team was among fourteen teams from nine different schools in the area. The competition is Jeopardy style and tests the participants in: Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics, Energy and Math. Each student was composed of four students, a student alternate, and a teacher who served as an advisor and coach.

  8. Quail Lake Environmental Charter School – Sanger
  9. Thomas Jefferson Middle School – Madera

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers – Fresno Professional Chapter hosts one of the 116 middle school and high school tournaments being held across the country. Winners will represent their region at the National Science Bowl® held from April 28 to May 2 in Washington, D.C., for the final middle school competitions.

More than 250,000 students have participated in the National Science Bowl® in its 25- year history, and it is one of the nation’s largest science competitions. More than 14,000 students compete in the NSB each year.
